A great combination especially when they all meet in Thailand. In connection with abundant rises, in a truly exotic location, Thailand is rapidly gaining a reputation can’t-miss climbing destination. The exchange rate favorable to many of the major currencies and living costs are cheap compared to Western prices.
Country
There are two main climbing areas. One is located on the north-west, near the city of Chiang Mai, which is the second largest city in Thailand. No beaches, but the climate in the high season (November-April), could be cooler than further south.

No movement of vehicles and remote feel keeps the scene somewhat restrained. You will not find any cheese ‘, that some other “hot spots” Thailand is famous.
Mountaineering
Mountain ranges from straight from the beach, fantastic, fully bolted, multi-step climbs back into the jungle. There are various guides available and it would be advisable to read at least one of them, to learn about the ups and fixed gear. Environment is harsh on the metal, so knowing the bolts better crop, very good for your health.
There are many climbing shops around, and you can hire a guide for half a day or a week or more. It may be better to spend some time walking along the cliffs to see leadership in action. They are easy to detect because they are usually the ones shouting directions. Some are quieter than others. Choose the one that suits your style. Gear is usually included when you hire a guide, but it also can be rented for those who travel light.
Climbing classes begin 6a, (5.10 yards). Below this, there are only a few ups and most of them get a little polished due to their popularity. No need for natural rack gear. This is pure fun and sport climbing, with a mix of bolts and natural runners thread.
West Railay (sunset side), the most prestigious, including a truly fantastic houses to rent in Railay Beach Club. East Railay more moderate, where you will find a lot of mid-priced housing. Tonsai popular budget backpacker, with a super cheap bamboo hut up the hill. You can walk on any beach. Tonsai is far, about 20 minutes walk from East Railay.
What else do
There are many activities to fill their days of rest. Sea kayaks can be rented, and most will include scuba diving equipment. West Railay and Phranang beach, best for swimming and sunbathing. For those who have more energy, there are several hikes worth it, including one to a hidden lagoon. Do not do this hike in the rain, though. The red clay soil into a spot of plastic when wet and hike down a rather steep. Longtail boats can be rented to visit the many beautiful islands in the area. Island trips usually include lunch and snorkeling gear.
When to go
High season runs from mid-November to late April. The prices are higher at this time and reduced to half in the low season. Low season begins in May and, as a rule, Rainier, but you can always find time to rise, regardless of the month. In summer (May-September) may be even colder than in high season (November to April). Climbing in the early morning is best during the hottest months, after which a relaxing day.
If climbing is your passion and you enjoy a relaxed atmosphere in an exotic language. At that time, Thailand should be on your eating. Another plus – the food, of course, delicious as climbing!
